Here’s How To Figure Out Whether Or Not He’s Serious About You

Posted on

In our perfect world, there’d be a bell that goes off somewhere in the universe letting you know the guy you’re crazy about has caught serious feelings for you. It’s wishful thinking, but if you’re really paying attention, it’s pretty simple to notice for yourself. If you know what to look for, it should be pretty easy to tell whether his feelings have crossed over from like to love. Here’s what to pay attention to:

1. IS HANGING OUT WITH YOU HIS FIRST CHOICE OR MORE LIKE AN OBLIGATION?

At the start of a relationship, couples are so excited to spend every second together. Dates, sleepovers, trips away — they just can’t get enough. Eventually, though, reality sets in and they establish a routine. If you’ve been seeing someone for a while and you feel like he’s only coming over because that’s just what you do every Saturday, he might be stuck in the “like” phase. If he’s making plans because being around you makes his entire day better, he’s probably the real deal.

2. DOES HE TALK ABOUT THE FUTURE?

You can learn a lot about a guy and his intentions by the way he does or doesn’t talk about the future. Planning next weekend or buying tickets to a concert next month is great, but if he’s comfortable talking about anything more than six months down the line, it’s clear he wants this to continue. You don’t want someone to start making wedding plans three weeks after you meet, but after you’ve been together more than a few months, if he’s talking about you being a part of upcoming milestones, it means he’s confident in your relationship.

3. DOES HE TAKE CARE OF YOU WHEN YOU’RE SICK?

There are two types of reactions when you get a nasty bug, or are just hungover from a rough Saturday night. One kind of guy will send you funny memes and keep up the “feel better” texts but stay as far away as possible. The other will bring you soup, cuddle you close and hold your hair back, even if he can catch whatever you have. Whether or not he’s willing to see you at your worst is a good indicator of the seriousness of his feelings.
